Farewell, Hellica: 15 Years of Love, Loyalty, and Light — Now She Runs Free

15 years together. How do I wake up tomorrow without her when every single day for the past 15 years has been with her? Today, the world lost some of its light. Some of its warmth. Some of its love. Hour ago, my girl left, and it feels like something vital was ripped out of me. There’s a hole inside me now—vast, bottomless, unbearable. Every two days, the vets said, “Let’s give her a little more time, let’s give her a chance.” And I did. I found the money. I found the strength. I found hope. She kept fighting, and I kept holding on to her. Yesterday, there was hope. Today, there is none. She took a walk, lay down to sleep—and never woke up. So simple. So cruel. So painful that I can barely breathe. 15 years. A lifetime. How do I go on without her?

Italian sighthound – healthy Silvento team, coursing team

Healthy italian sighthound is not only a good looking dog, for us it should be a dog who visit vet for blood test several times a year and that must be checked once a year for eyes, knees and for sure heart problems. We are happy to say that after a long 5 km walk and coursing short training our two italian greyhounds have passed vet test, result you may find on their personal web-pages. Our Hellica Forum Romanum who has missed her mating again, having rest for almost 2 years, due to my trips and our blue male of italian sighthound Silvento Eleusis, our coursing italian greyhound boy – are totally healthy 🙂

Italian greyhound puppies arrived :)

We are happy to announce about italian greyhound puppies from our sweet Hellica – who gave birth to 3 beautiful blue puppies (1+2) on APRIL 10, all puppies are cream carriers. COI → 9.375 % (4 generations) and inbreeding was to Il Cagnolino Fernando. Helli was mated at the begining of February – 3 males that I do liked were fount, all they lived outside Ukraine, I wrote their pedigree down, thought a lot about what I want from this litter and at some moment I decided to go abroad not looking to all the difficulties we had in Ukraine and to use one of that males. 1900 km were passed by my car, 32 hours actually – I’m totally ill and Helli is tired but we did it : ) Helli met her fiance at late evening, handsome cream italian greyhound male with nice temperament, lovely head and pedigree –  Perito Moreno Forum Romanum. Seems we were lucky to use Perito in our breeding, before he left away to Australia. Helli was again tested on eyes, heart and knees on Dec 2013 and yes, she is totally healthy as well as her “boyfriend” Perito. Whelping was quite easy and all babies feel well! Italian greyhounds, puppy plans 2014

At the begining of the year we had 2 “studs abroad”, actually one stud in Poland and one stud with french italian greyhound male that came to Ukraine on our request for a stud service. We had 3 studs planned and more info you may find at the PUPPIES section of our web. We were and still ARE the only one kennel of italian greyhounds in Ukraine who make health tests to our IG girls. And for sure we prefer to use tested IG males in breeding but unfortunatelly not all owners of their males make tests to their dogs. More info about our upcoming litters:   ♥ Silvento Diamoura Angioletta – we plan to use Amoura at the end of this summer. She was mated on January to Mr. beauty from France Darius Des Pitchoun Diables. But due to the reasons that didn’t depend on us she wasn’t mated during her hunting even if to consider that we came earlier to the stud. She was mated once and rest of the time we had to “enjoy” staying in other city. We do had hopes that she is pregnant not looking to everything as lot’s of affords were done to go to that stud but ultrasound told us that she is not pregnant. Looking to all the problems we had – next time we will use for sure other male and soon his name will be anounced. Interview with our Silvento kennel to Russian – the most popular dog magazine “DROUG” (Moscow)

15 years ago when I didnt even dream about my own kennel, every month I was looking for the begining of each month as it was the day when new publication of ukranian dog-magazine was published but it was a huge happiness when my friend sent me from Moscow almost each month publication of the most popular russian dog magazine – “DROUG” (in English translated as “Friend”). Publishing house “Droug” was established in 1990, when the first dog-magazine in USSR was published. At that time it was the only one magazine for dog-lovers, magazine that was full of useful information and advices. If someone told me, 12 years old girl, at that time – that one day I will be interviewed as a breeder of IGs by this well-known, oldest dog-magazine and that I will be also invited to be a consultant for the article about Italian Greyhounds and that my photos will be published there – I would say “are you kidding me?!” : ) I mentioned already on our site that we don’t write so called “puff piece” as our kennel doesn’t need any advertising, so when I got an email from “some” magazine – I started to write a reply … – rejection letter, until I didn’t notice the name of the magazine and didn’t see other email with the polite reply to provide magazine by my photos for free and give an interview for 8 pages and to be the consultant of the article about the breed. For sure I agreed : ) I was interviewed by Maria Davidova, and I must tell that I’m thankful for that very interesting questions she prepared for us…

Our italian greyhound puppies in new homes (Ireland, France, Spain)

Seems they were born just week ago…but time passed so fast… Will start from the last trips we had – from France… This monday I came back from Paris – as I was travelling with our baby Freya (Silvento Freya) to her new home…Each time I travel to Paris – I meet some adventures. For my luck this time I missed plane from Warsaw to Paris as plane from Kiev to Warsaw was late for 4 hours and all that 4 hours I spent with Freya in the airport. Due to wonderful people – I met in the airport in Kiev  – I had very nice company to spend evening in Warsaw in the best way. Polish airlines had to host me in the hotel and it was Marriott, that by the way doesn’t accept pets …But for sure It didn’t stop me at all and Freya spend excellent night after the walk around Warsaw old city – in the hotel, sleeping near me. In this way I was late to Paris for 15 hours but  in any case I met Diana and Jorg – owners of Freya (Diana and Jorg on the photo from left – near Versaille palace. Freya lives now in Boulogne-Billancourt (often colloquially called simply Boulogne), is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris (France), in the family with one more blue italian greyhound female and King Charles Spaniel. I do thankful to Jorg and Diana for the time they spend with me in Paris, and for the possibility they presented to Freya of having such wonderful owners : ) Before France it was – Spain… This…

Puppy plans

Long time passed since our last puppies updates : ). So finally we have situation a bit clear – Silvento Diamantine Tenera is defenetly pregnant from Eledi Grace Rubianno and puppies are expected from 18 to 22 March already, according to ultrasound that Tina had she is gonna have 2 babies! All the info – including future pedigree of this litter you may find on PUPPIES section. Owners of Tina finally got confirmation for registration of their own kennel name, so Tina will become the foundation bitch in their kennel and will give – I hope – nice litter for new ukrainian kennel of Katya and Sasha “Fiesta Ventura” (Dnepropetrovsk, UA). Other more great news are from our own kennel Silvento – our Hellica Forum Romanum, according to ultrasound that you may find on my youtube stream Pregnancy Video 1, Pregnancy Video 2, Pregnancy Video 3, is pregnant by 2 babies and whelping is expected from 30 Mar – 3 April. EURO SIGHTHOUND 2012, Poland

Our trip to F.C.I. Euro Sighthound was not the easiest one. This year F.C.I. Euro Sighthound was in Czestochowa, Poland. I put so much efforts to prepare this trip that didn’t sleep several days at all…too many problems with car registration for crossing the board, thule kit finding for my car, making the certificates for dogs to enter EU and hinally helping to the girls to get their visa, thanks god I had my still valid at that time schengen visa. After all trubles we met on our way we started at 4am by my car after only 2,5 hours of sleeping with Liuda Zarudna, taking Tanya Stanishcheva and Lida Antonenko on our way … After passing only 60 km from Kiev one member of our team fount out that forgot her passport : ) it could be really funny but actually wasn’t as we had to come back to Kiev and it was early morning already with traffic jams – so we lost 2 HOURS of our time… Way to the boarder Ukraine-Poland was easy, fast and not hard at all for me…BUT polish people are not so fast on roads, our GPS  decided to play with us like and Poland was just Labyrinth Minotaur for us due to this…so 1000 km instead of 12 hours took 16 hours of our time! When we came to the hotel it was late night already – the first thing we did was not shower or bed…no – we run to the nearest shop for the beer to selebrate our arriving. Kiev april CACIB 2012

During April 21-22 we had one of the biggest dogshows in Ukraine that took part in Kiev. From our dogs only one was showed this time – Hellica forum Romanum, as I was abroad on business at the first day of the show – Helli was showed by our friend Liudmila Zarudna and on the second day I was happy to show her myself in the ring. Italian greyhounds were judged by Lisbet Utke Ramsing (Denmark) on the first day and Gerard Jipping (Netherlands) on second and Helli became BestBitch. On the first day of the show Helli showed herself well but got mark vg, so here are the result from the second day: So here are the results of our IGs: 22/04/2012 Judge: Gerard Jipping (Netherlands) – 12 IGs entered Hellica Forum Romanum – exc САС   САСIB   BOS (Interm, class / 1 IG in the class)

Belaruss CAC show

Today at Gomel CAC show our sweet princess – italian greyhound Hellica Forum Romanum became Junior Champion of Bielaruss. Way to the show from Ukraine was really hard, lots of snow, awfull roads and typical problems with custom.
