Belfast (Northern Ireland), Gomel (Belarus), Vinnitsa (Ukraine) – results of our Iggies in September

Italian Greyhounds of our kennel and our “grand-children” of Silvento kennel surprised us this month by their nice results at the dog shows all around the world. I’m thankful to all the owners of our dogs for what they did…for all the care, love – just proud by all the owners and the results of our dogs. First of all it was dog-show in Belarus (Gomel city, where national show was and Silvento Euthenia won her junior class in competition with Eledi Grace bitch and in this way Euthenia finished her JCH BL title), then in Northern Ireland – Belfast – in the most important show of the year little princess, daughter of our Silvento Diamantine Tenera,- Azzurra Fiesta Ventura became best puppy of the breed, was placed as second in Best In Show in Puppy class and finally – got Qualification for Crufts 2014 – well done, Erin and Azzura : ) Must admit that this Show in Belfast that was held by Belfast Dog Show Society (founded in 1880, is one of the oldest society’s of its kind in the UK) – was held not under FCI but under UK kennel club rules! And the last show in this month was in Unraine (Vinnitsa city – CACIB show).  So here are short results of Silvento italian greyhounds and our descendants from all 3 shows. Gomel, BELARUS 22/09/2013 Judge – T.Egorova (Russia) “Regional dogshow” Silvento Euthenia – exc-1  jCAC Junior CH of Belarus Belfast, Northern Ireland 28/09/2013 Judge – Mrs Rita McCarry-Beattie (Ireland) “Belfast Dog Show Society Championship” Azzurra Fiesta Ventura – Best Puppy r.BIS puppy Qualification for Crufts 2014 Vinnitsa, Ukrane 29/09/2013 Judge – Adriana Griffa (Italy) “Cup of Vinnitsa”…

Interview with our Silvento kennel to Russian – the most popular dog magazine “DROUG” (Moscow)

15 years ago when I didnt even dream about my own kennel, every month I was looking for the begining of each month as it was the day when new publication of ukranian dog-magazine was published but it was a huge happiness when my friend sent me from Moscow almost each month publication of the most popular russian dog magazine – “DROUG” (in English translated as “Friend”). Publishing house “Droug” was established in 1990, when the first dog-magazine in USSR was published. At that time it was the only one magazine for dog-lovers, magazine that was full of useful information and advices. If someone told me, 12 years old girl, at that time – that one day I will be interviewed as a breeder of IGs by this well-known, oldest dog-magazine and that I will be also invited to be a consultant for the article about Italian Greyhounds and that my photos will be published there – I would say “are you kidding me?!” : ) I mentioned already on our site that we don’t write so called “puff piece” as our kennel doesn’t need any advertising, so when I got an email from “some” magazine – I started to write a reply … – rejection letter, until I didn’t notice the name of the magazine and didn’t see other email with the polite reply to provide magazine by my photos for free and give an interview for 8 pages and to be the consultant of the article about the breed. For sure I agreed : ) I was interviewed by Maria Davidova, and I must tell that I’m thankful for that very interesting questions she prepared for us…

Paris again! Meeting with Silvento Freya

Two months passed since I saw Silvento Freya last time when I brought her to Paris in June. Silvento Freya – this little princess from small italian greyhound – Petit lévrier italien grew up to very beautiful baby with amazing long tail, black nose, charming temperament and height – just 31,5 cm at her age. It is possible to fall in love with this italian greyhound very quickly! This time my flight from Kiev to Paris took just 5 hours, not 2 days as last time, so I was happy to stay for 4 days in Paris and had good reason to see Freya with her owners. It was a small Freya’s birthday as she was 4 months old when I saw her and this time we had a photosession not in Versailles but near our hotel – close to l’église de la Madeleine. I’m thankful to Diana and Jorg for the time they spent with me in Paris, for our meeting and for the love they give to our princess Freya.

Ireland – Hound Association Of Ireland. Azzurra’s results

Italian greyhound – Azzurra Fiesta Ventura, our “granddaughter” from Silvento Diamantine Tenera that left to Ireland (County Donegal) 2 months ago was showed today for the first time in baby class at FCI Hound Association Of Ireland in Naas city. There were 6 italian greyhounds at the show, IGs were judged by Eli-Marie Klepp from Norway (podengo portuguese breeder of kennel Rosenhill’s). Azzurra got her very promissing mark, was liked by the judge and made us to feel proud of her first win! This italian greyhound was special for us from the begining – small, tender baby that was born in the home of my good friends, owners of Silvento Diamantine Tenera, co-owners of Luccila Forum Romanum – kennel “Fiesta Ventura” in Dnepropetrovsk city. Azzurra was a baby from the first litter of Fiesta Ventura kennel. We are thankful to Erin Fergus, owner of Azzurra, for all the care that Azzurra gets, for photos and good news and for sure for the desire to pass such a long way in order to show Azzura : )

Our new achievements in cynology

I’m always full of wish to study, get new knowledge and it is not always something that should be connected with my job, it maybe psychology courses, philosophy, photo-courses, cynology and this time it was Canine Theriogenology! Every dog owner should have some understanding of reproduction, whether they intend to breed that dog or just want to have their dog spayed or castrated. Course was for people who wanted to understand their dog’s reproductive health better and to find out how to control its reproduction. Probably it was some kinda Dog Breeder’s Guide to Successful Breeding and Health Management that was provided to us by University of Minnesota. As a good student, for sure I finished this course with 100% and got my Statement of Accomplishment signed by the instructor – Margaret V. Root Kustritz (Professor, Vice-chair, Assistant Dean of Education College of Veterinary Medicine University of Minnesota). I’m thankful for the possibility I’ve got – to study this amazing course, and for sure to the Professor Margaret V. Root Kustritz who did all her best to make this course of Canine Theriogenology so interesting to all the students! Thanks to all the team of the course : ) From other news – our Tanya Stanishcheva (co-owner of my italian greyhounds, who is considered to be my right-hand in the kennel) successfully finished course cynologist-breeder of Ukrainian Kennel Union (UKU) that lasted for 1 year and was provided by Sumy National Agrarian University. I’m proud of Tanya as it was a great step from her side to start this course and even more to go into the practice to Sumy city where she spent several days in the kennel of State Emergency Service of Ukraine!…

Our italian greyhound puppies in new homes (Ireland, France, Spain)

Seems they were born just week ago…but time passed so fast… Will start from the last trips we had – from France… This monday I came back from Paris – as I was travelling with our baby Freya (Silvento Freya) to her new home…Each time I travel to Paris – I meet some adventures. For my luck this time I missed plane from Warsaw to Paris as plane from Kiev to Warsaw was late for 4 hours and all that 4 hours I spent with Freya in the airport. Due to wonderful people – I met in the airport in Kiev  – I had very nice company to spend evening in Warsaw in the best way. Polish airlines had to host me in the hotel and it was Marriott, that by the way doesn’t accept pets …But for sure It didn’t stop me at all and Freya spend excellent night after the walk around Warsaw old city – in the hotel, sleeping near me. In this way I was late to Paris for 15 hours but  in any case I met Diana and Jorg – owners of Freya (Diana and Jorg on the photo from left – near Versaille palace. Freya lives now in Boulogne-Billancourt (often colloquially called simply Boulogne), is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris (France), in the family with one more blue italian greyhound female and King Charles Spaniel. I do thankful to Jorg and Diana for the time they spend with me in Paris, and for the possibility they presented to Freya of having such wonderful owners : ) Before France it was – Spain… This…

2 CACIB, Cup of Lemberg and Galichina

Actually this dog show  in Lviv (also called Lwow) was not planned by me or Tanya…but week before the show started we decided to go to Lviv, mostly for some kinda excursion around Lviv that we all love so much : ) So I, Tanya and Liuda Zarudna started from Kiev at 3 am and arrived to Lviv at almost 10 am, except one IG aboard – Silvento Euthenia, we had also pug in the car and 2 more dogs of other breeds that I promissed my friends to take to Lviv, thanks god I have huge car : ) and the most important I had small princess Azzurra Fiesta Ventura aboard – but about this I will write a bit later )). So regarding the show, Pepper was strict as always but stil we must admit that we love this judge, last time Tanya showed Silvento Diamoura Angioletta under Pepper in Sevastopol where she got her BOB, this time Diamoura’s daughter Silvento Euthenia got BOB as well under Pepper.  It was long show indeed and we waited for our ring till almost 6 pm, if to consider that I didnt sleep since 2 am so hard to describe how I felt myself there…Except Euthenia there was one more italina greyhounds at the show, male that entered the ring for the first time – Saverio Dei Raggi di Luna, who was best puppy during both days of the show. In any case we enjoyed this show as well as the whole trip as we visited lot’s of interesting places in Lviv, bought huge amount of souvenirs : ) So here are the…

Dog-shows in Kharkiv and Dnepropetrovsk

Well, probably I missed news from 3 dog-shows where our dogs were showed. Will start from the begining. In Kharkiv on May 1, when all the Ukraine had day-off because of the interhanional holiday, Natasha, owner of Silvento Eucleia (aka Leica), spent half of the day at the dog-show with Leica – it was first show of Leica is junior size. Not looking to her VERY small height Leica took jBOB and jCAC. Judge- Oleynikova Zoya (Ukraine)Silvento Eucleia – exc  jCAC  jBOB On May 11-12 we decided not to spend holidays in Kiev but to go to Dnepropetrovsk with Tanya Stanishcheva – our right-hand in the kennel. It was double CAC show, where 2 italian greyhounds from our kennel were showed – Silvento Euthenia and Lucilla Forum Romanum. Silvento Euthenia (Zenya) was jBOB both days, she looks better and better after the trauma and only one jCAC is left for Zenya to obtain JCH UA title, Lucilla Forum Romanum (Lucci) was BOB both days and BIG-3 on the first day of the show and BIG-2 on second day of the show. Not looking to awful roads after this winter in Ukraine, long way, slow traffic (or we had to drive 60km/h or 180 km/h – and nothing average) – we still enjoyed our trip, saw Katya and Sasha, our grand-children – babies of Silvento Diamantine Tenera. I’m thankful to Katya and Sasha for their hospitality, tasty breakfast, to Tanya for a nice company during 1000 km we passed and to judges for excellent results! 12/05/2013 Judge – Deduk Natalia (Ukraine) Silvento Euthenia – exc  jCAC  jBOB Lucilla Forum Romanum – exc CAC BOB BIG-3 12/05/2013 Judge – Bubelik Natalia…

Puppies. Our F-litter

It was long day and night indeed, but we coped with all the problems and finally Hellica Forum Romanum after 14 hours of whelping presented us 2 puppies from the male imported from Latvia. There are cream female in the litter and fawn male. Happy mother Helli and puppies feel just great! Puppies got their names from the mythology like the last litter had, it is going to be  a tradition – this time it is Norse mythology. So names of the babies are: FREYA – is a goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold. And male was called – FREY – was associated with sacral kingship, virility and prosperity, with sunshine and fair weather. According to mythology Frey was a brother of Freya I’m thankful to all the friends who helped us, kept their fingers crossed for Helli!
